Thank you, Lobster Pier! I was exhausted and deeply interested in seafood by the time I climbed out of my rafting trip down the Delaware River last weekend. Chester is a convenient stopping point on the way back over the Tappan Zee...and Lobster Pier was definitely the place to get seafood. This is not a white table cloth kind of restaurant. I came in covered in bug spray and the dry jeans i packed for the trip and did not feel uncomfortable. The waitstaff were welcoming, attentive, and efficient. The prices are really reasonable for everything you get. Everything we ordered was really fresh and well-seasoned. None of the portions are skimpy and every entree includes their two big buffet bars. I highly recommend the Lobster Pier for their lovely lobster tail, their delicious mussels, and terrific softshell crab. My only small criticism would be that there was a little more tasty stuffing than there needed to be in the stuffed shrimp and stuffed fillet. The stuffed clams were perfect.
The seafood/salad bar is the big draw here. Everything seems reasonably fresh and it's busy so it is replenished often. Haven't tried much on the menu - mostly apps and the were tasty and served the appropriate temps. Staff is pleasant if a bit rushed due to the crowds. I'm giving a 4 star rating based on the location since I wasn't expecting much in this area. If it was a seaside location, it would be a 3.
This is a great place if your a seafood lover at heart! The owner goes down to the fulton fish market to get his fish as I know it's fresh. I would go back again.
Ate at the Lobster Pier on New Years Eve. Great food and very good service. Would eat there again any time. Salad bar is huge and has many choices. Wine selection is very good also.
Awesome food! Great service! The two salad bars are excellent and kept fresh. There are many choices even for non seafood eaters. The decor is charming and there is a bar if you need to wait for your table. The huge fish tank keeps the kids amused. Good family restaurant!
Awesome buffet, nice and clean, fresh servings and good selection. We had the broiled seafood combo - we loved it! A great find, staff friendly and service is good. Prices reasonable. Get there early on Fridays.
We were there with a party of 7 recently on a Sunday night. The service was good, the food was excellent. I have not seen such large crab legs in a long time, the lobster tail was tender. Maybe because it is new owner?
Went there last night at 7 PM had a wait time of approx 20 minutes. Wife had Chef's broiled seafood sampler platter with a side of linguine in garlic sauce. I had broiled sea scallops with the same side dish. Salad bar filled with almost everything you would want for your salad. Side bar had peel n' eat shrimp mussles, cold salad, etc. Service was good between waitress's and servers. Do agree with one posting that early bird specials are well worth going for, as the menu has lots of good choices. Well kept restaurant with casual ambiance
#1 favorite local spot to eat: I fell in love the first night I went out to eat. It was clean, the people were nice and kind and the food was so good so filling. I can't wait to go back.
Delightful surprise! great food & service w cheap prices!!!!! I was dying to eat seafood the other day, but really didn't want to have to drive all the way to City Island to get it. I live in Rockland County and started my google search. I was skeptical of the lobster pier because of some reviews I had read. A friend that lives in Orange gave us the green light so we went. The service was wonderful! The calamari appetizer was huge! We had to take half of it home. I suggest the chef Allen's sampler if you want a little bit of everything. Omg! It was delish! From the crabcakes, stuffed sole, everything! We had a half pitcher of sangria for 10 bucks. For dessert, the fried cheesecake is out of this world! It didn't come with ice cream but the server gave us some anyway. Def a great place!
So very good went their last night for my b/f birthday dinner..first time there ..the place blew us away it was fantastic ..you get a lot for what you pay for..food was very fresh and a lot to choose from ...service was excellent ..staff was on top of things ..my 10 year old recommends that for dessert you try the brownie sundae ...will be going back in the near future ..great place to eat in the hudson valley where good food is sometimes hard to find
Every year when shopping the Woodbury Commons outlets we stay in Chester and eat at the Lobster Pier every night (usually 3-4 nights in a row). We love the relaxed, warm atmosphere and the friendliness of everyone who works there. The same people work there year after year. The service is fantastic. We always start with the very extensive salad bar which is homemade with many interesting salads. They even have peel your own shrimp, mussels and seafood salads. All delicious. Everything we have ever eaten there has been great whether it is meat, seafood or pasta. We always enjoy trying any special of the day as it has always been delicious. The wines are very good and sometimes they make a special drink. Last time we were there we had a terrific hot apple cider with mulled spices. The prices are very fair. The owners, Alan and Pam are so friendly and gracious you feel like you've known them forever. We highly recommend The Lobster Pier!!
Another local spot I've been going to for years, Lobster Pier is a great place to eat. The food is prepared consistently every time I go. I read another review where the person claimed the fish was frozen. Well, I don't know if it is or isn't- all I know is that it tastes great! The salad bar is free with your meal, and it is fully stocked, including peel-n-eat shrimp and other stuff. The drinks are generous, and the desserts are good. For my wife and I, we find Lobster Pier to be a great place to go for a good meal at a reasonable price.
